Power Selling 101 a Success

EXiT Mid-Atlantic, EXiT Realty sub-franchisor for Delaware, DC, and
Maryland, hosted the first Power Selling ever held in the region on
May 14, 2008. The training event took place in Lanham, MD at the La
Fountaine Bleue.
“The room was packed. The staff had to bring in more tables and
chairs,” explained Jane Clark, Regional Coordinator for EXiT Mid-Atlantic.
“The turnout was excellent.”
Over 175 EXiT agents and their guests participated in Power Selling
101. Taught by Steve Morris, the mastermind behind the EXiT System,
the course is jam-packed with highly specialized information on goal
achievement and the psychology of selling and canvassing for business.
Known as one of the most knowledgeable and effective coaches in the
real estate business, Steve Morris' over 25 years of experience in both
management and sales training make this a course of the highest caliber.

its doors on January 15, 2008. Owners, Jane Ratti and Bernadette Cole,
purchased the White Plains EXIT Realty Franchise in late December 2007
and have moved quickly in getting the company open for business. The
office is located off of Theodore Green Boulevard at 4461 Southern Business
Park Drive.

It took Judy Mello, a retired registered nurse, a total of only 3 1/2
weeks to buy a $500,000 condominium in Carpinteria, a small coastal
town a few miles south of Santa Barbara.
Although a number of factors smoothed the process, Mello says an inspection
report commissioned in advance by the sellers played a large part in
her decision to buy and helped speed the sale.
One tactic increasingly bringing buyers and sellers closer together
is a property inspection obtained by the seller before the home is even
listed. A seller's inspection report is not in lieu of one commissioned
by the buyer, but it often accomplishes the goal of signaling openness
and good faith while at the same time unearthing any unpleasant surprises.
A pre-listing inspection gives buyers a better idea of where they stand
and what, if any, additional work is needed; this can also help sellers
fend off demands for unrealistic price reductions to cover repairs.
According to Dan Steward, president of Pillar to Post, a nationwide
home inspection company, buyers typically expect a $2 to $3 price discount
for every $1 worth of defects turned up by their inspector.
With their own report, sellers can choose, for example, to spend a few
hundred dollars fixing a plumbing problem that might otherwise mushroom
into a claim for more than $1,000 off the price and, in the process,
spark further potentially prickly negotiations.
“Most people want to turn the key and walk in,” he says.
“They don't want repairs, and they certainly don't want surprises.
If they know they have to do some work, they can at least prepare for
that.”

Tami Bonnell,
EXIT President for US Operations, was honored on Saturday, October 27th,
as the “Scorpion Slayer,” on top of Pike’s Peak during
EXiT Mid-Atlantic’s regional event. The event took place during
the EXiT Realty Corp. International’s 2007 Convention located
in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor Hotel.
The
cog train took 213 people up Pike’s Peak, which is over 14,000
feet high.

Plus of Germantown, MD participated in the 25th Anniversary of GERMANTOWN
OKTOBERFEST, Saturday Oct. 6th, 2007.
EXIT Realty Plus was a strong presence at the Festival with the famous

were on hand to answer any questions concerning Real Estate and Sponsorships.
Because of the excitement we portrayed, we were asked back by the Chairperson
of the event and informed us we could have a larger booth next year

a fun-filled day of live music and performances, delicious food, kids’
games & inflatables, exhibits by local crafters and businesses,
the ever-famous Germantown Oktoberfest Biergarten, and a spectacular

Realty Chesapeake Bay Celebrates 5th Annual Staff Retreat
Over 20
EXiT Realty Chesapeake Bay Brokers and Agents gathered at Camp Tockwogh
located in Kent County, MD for their 5th annual staff retreat to focus
on long term real estate goals for 2008.
This was the second straight year to hold the meeting at Camp Tockwogh
on the Chesapeake Bay, held on October 10,2007.
"All things are possible if you are willing to get out of your
comfort zone and do things others will not do," says Rich Cotton,
Broker/Owner, who kicked off the morning session using clips from the
film, "The Pursuit of Happyness" to instill the message.
The agents then broke into groups to discuss their 2007 successes and
what may aid in achieving their goals for 2008.
The morning concluded with each agent creating their Vision Board, which
will help keep them focused on their long term goals.
The High Ropes course followed a camp-style lunch. The ropes course
allowed the agents the opportunity to overcome some of their personal
fears. The Zip Line was the last component of the high ropes course
which truly provided a fast EXiT.

EXiT Mid-Atlantic Fun Day on August 9, 2007 at Six Flags in Upper Marlboro,
MD.
Two hundred REALTORS® and their families painted teal all over Six
Flags in matching “EXIT is Growing” shirts. They joined
in on the fun with tug of war, volleyball, raffle, an all-you-can-eat
buffet, and face paintings for the kids.
“I want to thank everyone for coming out and making our first
EXiT Mid-Atlantic Fun Day at Six Flags a great success,” stated

“You couldn’t miss us if you tried to,” reported Bob
Gauger of EXIT First Realty in Waldorf, MD.
Attendance was excellent... and so was EXIT’s presence. The new
and improved official EXIT bags were everywhere.
Gauger, Connie Stommel of EXIT 1 Stop Realty, and Steve Heilmeier of
EXIT Only Realty, manned the booth at the Southern Maryland Realtor®
Fair on May 23rd in St. Mary's County.
“It was very enjoyable working with Bob and Connie’s offices,”
said Heilmeier.

George’s County Housing Fair
Several EXIT Offices represented EXiT Mid-Atlantic at the Prince Georges
County Home Buyers Fair on Saturday June 9th, including: EXIT 1 Stop
Realty, EXIT PowerHouse Realty, and EXIT Premier Realty.
The event had over 1,000 attendees.
“We are currently working with quite a few first time home buyers,”
Karen Gray, REALTOR® and fair coordinator for EXIT 1 Stop Realty
in Clinton, reported.
“REALTORS® are here, not just sell a home, but to create more
informed buyers as well. I personally met over 200 prospective homebuyers,
who were pre-approved looking for homes immediately,” stated Shawna
Swann, REALTOR® of EXIT PowerHouse Realty.
EXIT’s presence was undeniable. Gray recalls attendees asking,
“Where did you all come from? All of a sudden I see one EXIT sign
and then I turn around and see EXIT everywhere. I see your shirts; I
see your people.”
According to Swann, “All the EXIT real estate agents showed enthusiasm
